1. Introduction

This policy applies to information we handle through the Website and in the course of providing our Services, including answering enquiries, licensing and supporting our software, and publishing documentation. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or marketplaces that we do not operate, or to the data held inside a merchant’s own store where one of our extensions is installed (see Software Products and Extensions).

We aim to collect only what we need, to be clear about how we use it, and to keep the Website straightforward and privacy-respecting.

2. Information We Collect

What we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

  • Information you provide voluntarily. When you complete a form on the Website, request information, or otherwise get in touch, you may give us your name, email address, an optional phone number, a subject line, and the content of your message.
  • Contact and enquiry information. If you email us or send an enquiry, we receive whatever is contained in that communication, including any details you choose to share about your project or requirements.
  • Account, order, and purchase-related information. We do not currently operate customer accounts or a checkout on the Website. If you obtain or download a MageEnv product through a third-party marketplace (such as the Adobe Commerce Marketplace), that marketplace processes your purchase under its own terms and may share limited order or licensing details with us so that we can deliver the product, manage licensing, and provide support.
  • Support communications. When you request support, we process the information you send us, which may include details about your environment, configuration, or the issue you are seeing. Please avoid sending personal data or credentials that are not needed to resolve your request.
  • Technical information. As with most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically record limited technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This is used for security, troubleshooting, and keeping the Website reliable.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide the information or support you request;
  • deliver, license, maintain, and improve our software products and the Website;
  • send you administrative or product-related messages, such as replies to your enquiry or important updates about a product you use;
  • understand how the Website is used so that we can improve its content and performance;
  • protect the Website and our Services against fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where applicable law requires a lawful basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving our Services; the performance of a contract with you; or compliance with a legal obligation.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage used by your browser. The Website currently uses only cookies or local storage that are necessary for the site to function correctly or to remember basic preferences, such as display settings. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies on the Website.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Website work. If we introduce additional cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.

5. Analytics and Website Technologies

We aim to keep the Website simple and privacy-respecting. At the time this policy takes effect, the Website does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or behavioural-tracking services. Our hosting and content-delivery providers may process limited technical and server-log information as described in Information We Collect. If we adopt an analytics tool in the future, we will describe it here and configure it in line with applicable law.

On our extension pages we keep simple first-party counts: how many times each page is viewed, the website or campaign tag that linked to it (for example a search engine), and how many times the download and marketplace buttons are clicked. These counts are stored on our own server per day only. They do not use cookies and do not include your IP address or any other information that identifies you.

6. Contact Forms and Communications

When you submit the contact form on the Website, your submission is processed on our own servers and delivered to our mailbox by email; it is not sent to a third-party form-submission service. To protect the form against spam and abuse, your browser completes a short automated verification step, and we temporarily keep a one-way (hashed) value derived from your IP address to limit repeated submissions; we do not store your IP address itself for this purpose. If you email us directly, your message is handled through our email provider.

Launch notifications. On our extension pages you can ask to be told when an extension becomes available. If you do, we store your email address, the extension you chose and the time you signed up, on our own servers. We use it only to send you one email when that extension is available. We do not add you to a newsletter or share your address. We delete your address after sending that email, or after 12 months if the extension has not launched by then. You can ask us to remove it sooner at any time by emailing info@mageenv.com.

We use the information you send through a form or by email only to respond to and manage your enquiry and any related follow-up, and we retain it as described in Data Retention.

7. Software Products and Extensions

MageEnv publishes software for the Adobe Commerce and Magento ecosystem, including the MageEnv Dynamic Cart Progress extension. Our extensions are installed and run within a merchant’s own Adobe Commerce or Magento environment.

The MageEnv Dynamic Cart Progress extension is primarily a storefront presentation and calculation layer: it displays a merchant-configured cart-progress indicator on the mini cart and cart page based on cart subtotal milestones. By itself, the extension does not:

  • send a merchant’s shopper or customer personal data to MageEnv;
  • store a merchant’s customer data on MageEnv systems;
  • track shoppers through MageEnv servers;
  • collect or process payment card information; or
  • transmit customer data to third parties.

Merchants who install our extensions are responsible for the data in their own stores, their store configuration, any third-party integrations they choose to add, and providing their own customer-facing privacy notices and legal disclosures. If you are a shopper on a store that uses a MageEnv extension, please refer to that store’s privacy policy. When you contact us for support relating to a product, we process the support information you choose to share with us as described in this policy.

8. Adobe Commerce Marketplace

MageEnv products may be distributed, sold, or made available through third-party marketplaces, including the Adobe Commerce Marketplace operated by Adobe. When you obtain a product, download it, or request support through such a marketplace, your interaction is also subject to that marketplace’s own privacy policy and terms.

The marketplace may provide us with limited information needed to fulfil your order and support you, such as your name, email address, an order or license reference, and the products involved. We use that information to deliver the product, manage licensing, provide updates, and respond to support requests. We do not control how the marketplace itself collects or uses your information.

9. Payment Processing

The Website does not take payments and does not collect or store payment card numbers. If you purchase a MageEnv product, payment is handled by the applicable marketplace or payment provider through which the purchase is made, according to that provider’s own privacy policy and terms. We may receive confirmation that a purchase was completed, together with related order or licensing details, but not your full payment card details.

10. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the Website and our Services. These may include:

  • website hosting and content-delivery infrastructure;
  • email and communication services;
  • marketplaces through which our products are distributed, such as the Adobe Commerce Marketplace; and
  • tools that help us maintain security and diagnose technical issues.

These providers are permitted to process information only as needed to provide their services to us, and are expected to protect the information they handle. Each provider processes information under its own privacy terms.

11. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may share information:

  • with the service providers described above, acting on our behalf;
  • with a marketplace or payment provider as needed to complete and support a purchase you make;
  • where you ask us to, or where you otherwise consent;
  • to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request;
  • to protect the rights, property, or safety of MageEnv, our users, or others, including to prevent fraud or abuse; and
  • in connection with a reorganisation, merger, or transfer of our projects or assets, in which case we will take steps to ensure your information continues to be protected.

12. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to respond to your enquiry, to provide and support a product you use, to meet our legal or accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the context in which it was collected. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or to anonymise it.

13. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, and alteration. However, no website, service, or method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information. You are responsible for keeping confidential any credentials you use with us or with a marketplace.

14. International Data Transfers

Depending on the services we use and where those service providers operate, information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your country. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps to address such transfers in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and how you interact with us, you may have certain rights over your personal information under applicable privacy laws, such as the right to request access to it, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a request, contact us using the details in Contact Us. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some rights may be subject to legal limits or exceptions. You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.

16. European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR) Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and related laws. These can include the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that already took place.

For the personal information we process about visitors and people who contact us through the Website, MageEnv acts as the controller. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, although we would welcome the chance to address your concerns first.

17. California and Other Regional Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of California or another region with its own privacy laws, you may have rights to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of your personal information, and to not be treated differently for exercising those rights. MageEnv does not sell personal information and does not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

The sections above describe the categories of information we collect and the purposes for which we use them. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. This section describes rights that may apply to you; it is not a claim of certification or registration under any particular law.

18. Children’s Privacy

The Website and the Services are intended for professionals, businesses, and adults. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16 (or the age defined by your local law). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

19. External Links

The Website and our documentation may link to third-party websites and services that we do not operate or control, including marketplaces, code repositories, and provider documentation. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, our practices, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
